Take A Stand - Make A Plan Task Force‍ ‍

September Actions

Take A Stand / Make A Plan Task Force is working to ban ICE detention centers in Clatsop County, hold local governments accountable to Oregon’s Sanctuary Law, and support our immigrant neighbors.

September 15 — Port of Astoria Board of Commissioners

4:00 pm • 422 Gateway Ave, Suite 100‍ ‍

We’re asking community members to attend, and a few volunteers to offer public comment. Your presence signals that the Port Authority must follow Oregon law and protect our immigrant neighbors. If you’re willing to speak, let us know and we’ll share guidance.

Background: In June, an ICE operation occurred on Port property, and state employees appear to have assisted, a violation of Oregon’s Sanctuary Law. A state investigation is underway. More info: https://www.opb.org/article/2026/06/08/astoria-oregon-ice-operations-spark-concerns-sanctuary-law/

September 21 * Astoria City Council

6:00 pm • City Hall, 1095 Duane Street

Astoria has already passed a resolution condemning ICE’s unlawful actions. We’re urging the Council to strengthen it by adding a ban on ICE detention centers within city limits. Council Member Andrea Mazzarella encouraged community members to attend and show support.

We encourage Astoria residents to speak up during the public comment period. We encourage anyone to show up wearing yellow to show your support.

We will have talking points for those who wish to speak.

Help Elect Cyrus Javadi and Rachel Armitage

Both are opposed by MAGA-aligned folks with BIG budgets.

Indivisible Tillamook Coast Action is inviting INCO volunteers to join them reaching voters in the lead up to the November midterms.

All of the voter contact will be done by text, no need to knock on doors. Training and ongoing support in a method proven to build relationships based on real needs, real hopes and real results. With ongoing training and support, you would spend about 15 hours between 9/1 and 11/3 contacting “your” 50 registered voters, finding out what matters to them, sharing the importance of voting, and reasons to consider support for Javadi and Armitage.

Indivisible Tillamook Coast Action’s goal is to contact 10,500 Democrats and progressive Non Affiliated Voters.  Getting out the progressive vote will be the key to a better future for all.

Demonstrate for Democracy

If you’re feeling worn out by the daily barrage of corruption, false peace agreements and abasement of our capitol’s architecture, just to name a few of the regime’s assaults on us and our democracy, join a local Indivisible protest. Spend some time with other people as concerned as you are who are trying to fix things. There’s a demonstration going on near you.

A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Writing Activates Voter Engagement (WAVE)

INCO activists and postcarding veterans invite you to join us every Wednesday from 3 to 4:30 PM to write postcards to voters in competitive races nationwide. Your postcards will provide valuable information for voters and increases voter turnout.

Starting September 2nd, WAVE will focus on 1665 Clatsop County voters - seldom-voting Dems and Non-affiliated voters who lean progressive - helping to Get Out the Vote in our own county.
