INDIVISIBLE

NORTH COAST OREGON

INCO is a small but mighty all-volunteer organization. Together we stand up for human rights and resist authoritarian overreach. There is a place for everyone in this fight.

Thursday July 23 at 5:30pm

Garden of Surging Waves, Astoria

*Note that the day has been corrected to Thursday.

In one week, federal immigration agents shot and killed two men in public streets—neither of whom was the intended target, and neither had a criminal record. On July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was killed while driving his work van in Houston, Texas, in front of his brother and coworkers. On July 13, 26‑year‑old Johan Sebastian Guerrero was killed as he left home for work in Biddeford, Maine, witnessed by his wife and toddler.

Vocal Uprising will host a vigil in honor of these men and the many others whose lives have been ended by ICE or CBP on Thursday, July 23 at 5:30pm at the Garden of Surging Waves, Astoria. The event will have sign‑making, a reading of names, songs of grief and solidarity, and candle‑light remembrance. Bring flowers; electronic candles provided.

At least eight individuals have been murdered by ICE through unlawful shootings, including most recently, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, 52, on July 7 in Texas, and Joan Sebastian Guerrero, 26, on July 13 in Maine.

Over 70,000 people are being held in ICE detention centers throughout the United States. Detainees report unsanitary conditions, insufficient and spoiled food, inadequate medical care, and beatings. We know of  54 people who have died in ICE custody since Trump took office.

An armed, masked police force has no place in our democracy. Join us to demand justice and show your opposition to ICE on Saturday, July 25 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. We will be on the south side of Marine Drive starting at 16th St. Bring your protest signs and American flags.

Saturday July 25 12:00 - 1:30

Stop the CLARITY Act

This proposed legislation is anything but clear. In several key ways it enables the current scourge of crypto. This bill doesn’t protect consumers, doesn’t close money laundering loopholes, and does nothing to stop the biggest threat of all: Trump’s crypto-fueled bribery machine. It passed the House (of course) and now sits in the Senate.

Contact Merkley and Wyden and tell them to oppose this disaster which will benefit billionaires (especially Trump) and leave the rest of us unprotected.

Demonstrate for Democracy

If you’re feeling worn out by the daily barrage of corruption, false peace agreements and abasement of our capitol’s architecture, just to name a few of the regime’s assaults on us and our democracy, join a local Indivisible protest. Spend some time with other people as concerned as you are who are trying to fix things. There’s a demonstration going on near you.

Writing Activates Voter Engagement (WAVE)

INCO activists and postcarding veterans invite you to join us every Wednesday from 3 to 4:30 PM to write postcards to voters in competitive races nationwide. Your postcards will provide valuable information for voters and imcreases voter turnout.

We’ll provide examples and help you with wording We use the Postcards to Swing States campaign to make sure we send postcards where they’ll have the most impact on election results.

NEWCOMERS: We have surplus postcards, but please bring your own thin, colored pens, some White-Out and if possible, postcard stamps.
