INCO MEETINGS IN CHRONOLOGICAL SEQUENCE :


Since August is a dark month for INCO, our next regular monthly meeting will be held on September 21, 2010 in Recreation Room number 2 at the Stonebriar Apartments, 21285 E Hwy 20, in Bend.

If you enter from Hwy 20, Rec Room #2 is at the NE corner of the property. If you enter from Quail Run it is the building right in front of you.   Parking is available on the street or in any uncovered parking slot.

Our last meeting was held in the Meeting Room at Jake's Diner in Bend on May 18th. Dan Klingler and Rex Auker lead a discussion on Karen Armstrong's book, "A History of God." The meeting was lively, interesting, and generated a lot of active participation from attendees.

INCO's April Meeting was held at Trinity Episcopal. In addition to the normal monthly business, Betsy Lamb and Janet Whitney were joined by Greg Delgado to give us a thorough and detailed look at the immigration situation in Central Oregon and throughout the State of Oregon.

Our meeting on March 16th took place at the Shalom Bayit Synagogue. Our guests included local and national union representatives and employee union representative from from Fred Meyer Store in Bend. The Academic Program focused on Spiritual Direction and the role of Spiritual Directors.

Our February Meeting was held at the Bend Quakers Meeting Hall. The meeting focused on the Chaplaincy and on the availability and delivery of religious services and the law.

INCO's January 19th meeting was held at Bend First Presbyterian Church, 230 NE Ninth Street.   The focus of this meeting was the church's ministry in Bolivia, and details of members' most recent visit to that country.

Our December 15th meeting was also held at the Shibui Spa located at the Five Pines Resort, 720 Buckaroo Trail in Sisters. The focus of the meeting was a discussion of two books addressing the issue of Health Care Reform. The minutes of this meeting can be viewed here.



Our November 17th meeting was held at the Shibui Spa located at the Five Pine Resort, 720 Buckaroo Trail in Sisters. The focus of the meeting was following up on the draft document exploring options for the appropriate direction of INCO's future going forward.

On October 20th the monthly INCO meeting was held at First United Methodist Church of Bend.

Members were given a very thorough and detailed update on the status of the H1N1 virus situation in Oregon, by a member of the Deschutes County Dept. of Health. The meeting also included a very enlightening presentation by Chris Clouart on the role and operation of Bethlehem Inn in the Bend Community.



The regular INCO meeting for the month of September was held at Nativity Lutheran church of Bend.

Nathaniel Stice and Andrew Plambeck from Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon led a very interactive discussion on Climate Change and related environmental concerns.

INCO's August 25th meeting was held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Bend.

The meeting focused on the future plans and objectives of INCO going forward. Some members volunteered to submit a draft of issues for additional consideration at a future meeting.



The monthly INCO Meeting was held at Natibity Lutheran Church of Bend on May 19th.

Rev. Tara Wilkins, Executive Director of CWC (Community of Welcoming Congregations) gave an inspiring report and update on the work and objectives of her organization. In 2006, she was instrumental in producing the first-ever interfaith transgender conference held in Corvallis.



The April 21st INCO meeting was held at First Presbyterian Church of Bend.

Ms. Carol Smalley from Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Oregon shared a very thorough and detailed presentation of the activities, mission, and accomplishments of the Volunteer Program.



Our March 17th meeting was held at Grace First Lutheran Church, 2265 Shevlin Park Road, Bend.

This meeting was devoted to a discussion of the book,"Acts of Faith" by Eboo Patel. This was the last of two books the members chose last year to read for these discussions.




INCO's February 17, 2009 meeting was held at Nativity Lutheran Church, 60850 Brosterhous Rd, Bend.

Our featured speaker, Krayna Castelbaum, MHS, integrates creative self-expression with art-making, poetry, dreamwork, breath and body awareness. Her practice of contemplative arts helps people in their spiritual lives and relationships with themselves and with others.

She led our group in a most inspiring session of reading and pondering the rich and beautiful meaning and content of selected poetic compositions. Her presentation was very well received, and most expressed regret when we finally ran out of time.





THE JANUARY 20, 2009 meeting was held at Shalom Bayit Synagogue, 21555 Modoc Lane, Bend.

The Academic Program was a presentation by Brad Porterfield, Director of the Latino Community Association of Central Oregon. In his talk he covered the history of the organization, its mission, how it is funded, and the broad spectrum of services provided to members of the Latino Community, such as language classes, assistance in obtaining legal and financial services, contacts with the Mexican Consulate, organizing community volunteers to provide help with dental care, taxes, and a wide variety of other types of assistance. He than fielded question from the members that touched on both legal implications for unauthorized immigrants and on ways that INCO and others can be helpful in meeting some of the more urgent needs of the Latino Community.
